I was in my Edit Themes of my Lifestyle Child Theme(functions.php). I added a tiny snippet of code… it didn’t do what I wanted, so I immediately deleted it. Now I get this code.. Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/txathome/public_html/wp-content/themes/lifestyle/functions.php on line 25
I’ve looked everywhere for something I may have done, but can’t find anything… any ideas?

    Thanks for your help!

Download a new copy of your theme to your local computer and then via FTP, replace the functions file with the new copy. And BTW, you should not be modifying any theme files — if you want to make changes, use a child theme — so that your changes won’t be lost when the theme is updated.

Ok, I downloaded it… not via a http://FTP... not sure what that is, but I downloaded the file again and copied it, deleted the other and replaced it, and I still get the same message. What did I do wrong?

    Try deactivating the theme:

WP should default to a default theme and let you login. Then delete the bad theme and reinstall it.

I can’t even get into WordPress now.. all I get is the code

Yes, that’s why I provided the link above — it does not require you to login. But you do need to have FTP or other file manager access — you’ll have to ask your hosting company how to set that up — or look on their website — it’s very standard and not hard to use.

Ha Ha Ha — that was fast! Good job — and all that panicking for naught :). Glad you got it fixed.
