Hi. I’m trying to add %%parent_title%% to titles and descriptions on my woocommerce category pages but it’s not working so I’m not sure why. When I edit a specific category, I see that %%parent_title%% is showing correct, but on any google search pages it’s not showing it at all. In page source it is missing it also:
    <title>: Chairs | Brown Interiors</title>

<!– This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v7.2 – https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/ –>
<meta name=”description” content=”Find stylish and affordable Chairs at Brown Interiors Online Store! Enjoy Free Shipping on everything & browse our great selection of in our furniture and home furnishings store.”/>

Please let me know if you have a fix to this.

    Thank you

The %%parent_title%% replaces with the title of the parent page of the current page. This means you’ll need to setup your pages and categories by using the parent-child relationship using the page attributes -> parent options.

All my categories in woocommerce are set with parent-child relationship and it wouldn’t work. Regular pages work fine, but I need it to work on categories also. I have a ‘chairs’ category with a parent ‘furniture’ and it shows right only on ‘edit category’ but doesn’t show at all anywhere else. Is it not supposed to work on ‘child’ woocommerce categories?

It should work, but it may have to do with your site structure on how the parent-child relationship is defined. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.
