# Parent Directory Writable? ERROR

 * I am getting this message:
 * “Unable to create directory /var/www/vhosts/garrettgrove.com/httpdocs/blog/wp-
   content/uploads/2009/03. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”
 * Any direction I can be pointed to resolve this?

 * on some servers for the 1st time you will need to chmod 777 on /wp-content
 * after that chmod back to 755 and it should work

 * I had this problem and solved it by changing the path statement for the uploads
   directory in the Settings > Miscellaneous menu. All I needed was the wp-content/
   uploads bit of the path (suggested default value). The incredibly long path statement
   could be what choked off your upload.
 * In my case, fiddling with permissions did nothing to resolve the problem.
