It seems the Parent Table Option will only link ( have as a child) the default Page – is this correct ? This means that if I have two different Parent Pages then they both have to link to the same Child view ?

Is there any workaround other than to create separate updateable views in the DB ?

    Hi Mike,

If you want to use a table on two different parent/child pages, you need to create a second options set with another set name. To use a non default set name in a Data Projects page, just edit the page and change the set name.

    Does this help?

    Hi Peter,
I understand I can create multiple Options Set Name(s) for the Parent – but would like to have different child option sets for a parent

Am guessing this isn’t possible ?

    Hi Mike,

In that case you have to create multiple copies of your parent and create multiple parent/child option sets. For example:

parent – using option set default
child – using option set default

parent – using option set example (copied from default)
child – using option set example

Is this what you are looking for?

    Best regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter

Hopefully this use case will help explain 🙂
Consider two tables; Header and Detail
    – Header Table has a status column – status varies as business process progresses
    – Detail Table has multiple columns – requirement is to vary which columns are diplayed as child according to the status

I understand multiple option sets for Header and for Detail can be defined BUT
think its only possible to only display one option set as a child, this option set will always be used as the child irrespective of the Parent Option set. My assumption is the “default” option set is always used , if the default is re-named then ‘1st ?’ option set is always used but I haven’t tested this 🙂

Hopefully this makes sense – one option for a workaround is to try and filter the child columns using css ( !! not my fave as I have done v little with css so far ) alternatively create updateable views.

    Hi Mike,

The option set defined for a Data Projects page will be used for the parent and all child tables. But there are some rules:
    (1) The plugin first tries to find the option set as defined for that Data Projects page
    (2) If no option set is found, it looks for the default option set
    (3) If no default option set is found, it uses the plugin defaults

It works the same for parent and child tables. So, you are right, you can define only one option set per Data Projects page, but the rules allow you to reuse and mix option sets on different pages.

Can I visit your page to see what you are trying to do?

    Thanks,
    Peter
