Okay, I feel like a total noob. Do you have any idea how I fix this? I tried to use old forum posts for a solution to remove the author byline. I create a child theme and then went to Appearance->Editor and selection functions.php and inserted a random line of php script. Now I can’t even enter the WP admin dashboard to delete it out. Here is my website:

    http://themoneyhabit.org/

If I try to visit it or even try to visit http://themoneyhabit.org/wp-admin/
    I get the following message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/themon24/public_html/wp-content/themes/hueman-child-theme/functions.php on line 4

Did I just destroy my site? Do I have to start over from scratch?

  • HI tmh12. You can use either FTP or your host account file manager (like is in cPanel) and go to your child theme functions.php file. Either remove the lines you added or rename the file to something like functions-old.php. That should allow you to access your site again. PHP is very unforgiving of errors; one small mistake and you’ve now experienced the consequences.

Gah, thanks bdbrown. I didn’t know how to do either of those by my hoster was able to remove the line. Really appreciate your response.

You’re welcome. Glad you got it fixed.
