• Hi, my site is running painfully slow. This is both when I visit it as a site, or go into the admin to add posts, etc.

Can anyone help me identify what the problem is? Is it me, WordPress, or perhaps my web host service?

    Many thanks, in advance.

  • Loaded pretty quickly for me, using fiber optics 20mb/sec download. If you look at the bottom of your dashboard, it will tell you the loading time for you main page. Could be your host, could be net traffic. I would doubt it’s WP itself.

I’m having the same problem with my site. (www.punctualityrules.com) The Admin pages take FOREVER to load and I often have to refresh to get past them timing out.

I did a Google search for “slow wordpress” and found a lot of hits so this obviously isn’t just the two of us. Unfortunately, I’m not anything like a computer expert, so most of the explanations make NO sense to me!

Yeah, the Admin is ridiculously slow on my site. I can’t figure out why either. I did a search as well and found many of the explanations far too technical and above my head.

ME TOO! My host company swears it is not them. Please, will the technical Gods lurking on this site help out the poor ludites? (Ok, just talking about me with that comment)

Try to disable Gears. I was about to quit using wordpress but then I disabled Gears and everything was running fine again. 🙂

How exactly do you disable Gears?
