Support » Plugin: WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips » Paid version — attaching proforma invoices for unpaid orders

Now on the fence of buying the Pro version of plugin. However can’t really understand how the Proforma invoice and Invoice works concerning whether if order in status which means it was paid or not.

I can see that I can choose on which statuses will plugin send an invoice to the customer — both for Invoice and Proforma.

So, say I can send a customer a “Customer invoice / order details” email while the order can be both in status “Pending payment” (unpaid) or “Completed” (paid).

Can I choose the behaviour of the plugin in that way that if I’m sending an Invoice to an order in “unpaid” status, a proforma will be sent and vice versa?

    Thank you

    Hi!
This plugin acts primarily upon emails rather than order statuses. For most users there is no real difference between the two: most status changes trigger a specific email and if you attach a document to that email that would generate it for you when that mail gets sent.

The “Customer invoice / order details” email is a manual email that WooCommerce includes by default that is not linked to any status. But if you create a manual order and set it to “On Hold” (which is the status used for most offline payment methods by gateways, and defined by WooCommerce as “Awaiting payment – stock is reduced, but you need to confirm payment.”) instead of “Pending Payment”, WooCommerce will already send out the “On Hold” email and you can attach the Proforma to that email. You could of course also attach the Proforma to the “Customer invoice / order details” email and only use that for the pending payment orders. When these eventually get to Processing (=paid) or Completed (=sent) you can attach the final invoice.

That said, the above is just another way of approaching the problem and it’s certainly possible for more advanced rules here, if you were to purchse the Profession extension we can supply code snippets that takes care of this.
