Good evening, in a few days it will become truly indispensable and mandatory here in Italy to have a consensus register. Some time ago you told me that you would need funds to carry out this integration. I would like to ask you, possibly, for a fee how much would it cost? Because your plugin is really one of the best and I don’t like your other competitors even if you have a consensus register.

    I thank you in advance

  • Hello,
+1 from Czech Republic. Even in our country it will be mandatory to have consensus register from 1st January.

I guess it would take me up to a week in development of this feature. I can do it without funds but that would mean I’ll do in in my spare time. With funds I could do it planned and in one stretch.

It will happen, one way or another, the question is when.

Of course, the problem is that in the end in Italy the obligation takes effect strictly from 10 January 2022. Which means that if you don’t even release a PRO version we would all be forced to change the solution. So the problem is not the funds because if we want, at a reasonable price, we would be willing to pay a few euros more, but if we do not have this feature we should, unfortunately, look for another alternative. In any case, thank you for your availability and for your time

The sense is that today it is not possible to install a plugin without a consent register as it would be a solution not in accordance with the law.

Still, consider providing a PayPal or “Buy Me a Coffee” link, where people can send a few Euros to fuel the development 🙂

I’m interested too. Moreover, here in Italy it seems to be necessary for the banner to show an X in the top right-hand corner to close it. Clicking on the X is equivalent to clicking on “Reject cookies”. Also, it could be useful to add an option to specify the consent cookie expiration (in Italy we need 6 months or more), but I see that your plugin set an expiration of 365 days, so it should be already ok.

There is a lot of confusion regarding the consensus register: in the FAQ provided by the Italian Data Protection Authority it is written that a technical cookie is sufficient to register consent (which is already the case with this plugin). Check here, point 9 (sorry, it’s only in italian language…): https://www.garanteprivacy.it/faq/cookie

    Translation of point 9:
How can the acquisition of consent through the use of the banner be documented?

In order to keep track of the acquired consent, the owner of the site can make use of a specific technical cookie, a system that is not particularly invasive and that does not in turn require further consent, as well as other methods that allow the documentation of the choices of the interested party to be kept constantly updated.

This does not affect the possibility for users to change their options at any time and in an easy way. In this regard, it is good practice to adopt a technical device (e.g. an icon or a graphic sign) indicating at any time the status of the consents previously given by the user.

Honestly, I do not know what the correct interpretation of the law is. It has to be said that the text of the guidelines (https://www.garanteprivacy.it/temi/cookie – always in Italian, sorry) does not explicitly mention the consent register.

Anyway, thank you for your wonderful plugin!

    Hi,

    There are news about consensus
Then there is also the X at the top right
    Edit 180 days

You can tell us the times for the update.
    Thank you`

    Plugin Author Johan Jonk Stenström

    (@jonkastonka)

No, I can’t. The update will happen when I have time to do it, and when it’s prioritized, that is if there is nothing more important that needs to be done. This will happen, it’s in the plan. The plan does not have dates. I develop this in my spare time. For free.

@jonkastonka good morning, you are right that you are doing a free job. At the same time, however, as far as the functionality of the plugin is concerned, you will lose all Italian users as we cannot use it. You said everything will always be free. Perfect. But you have to take into account that you have made a plugin that is not usable for us. If its function is to comply with the cookie law, then it doesn’t work. I tell you with all respect and gratitude for what has been done so far but you understand that you cannot answer us: I will do it when I have time. You can just say that you don’t do it because you want to get paid fairly. But we can’t wait for your free time. Respect each other, I had installed your plugin on multiple sites that I had to replace with a different plugin

    Plugin Author Johan Jonk Stenström

    (@jonkastonka)

This has nothing to do with money. This is a free plugin that I develop in my free time because I want to. If the plugin doesn’t fit your needs, you are free to use another that does. These changes will be included in the plugin in the (near) future.

    Thread Starter semplicewebsite

    (@semplicewebsite)

That’s fine. I respect what you say, so I can say that if I want to use your plugin for business, I can’t do it. As it is a plugin made in spare time without a constant interest. Obviously I say this not in a negative way but as an observation.Perdonami ma avevo necessità di capire questa cosa perché implementare un plugin, settarlo e poi doverlo cambiare per me. grazie ancora e buon lavoro

    Plugin Author Johan Jonk Stenström

    (@jonkastonka)

The setting for cookie expiry is in the latest update.

    Thank you @jonkastonka :)!
