Always open to contributions! What is is that you are wanting to modify? It might be that we could add some extensibility to allow you to do what you want.

I am so sorry that I didn’t get back to you sooner. My problem is that I have several shop managers using this and they all use different browsers, with some browsers it’s easy to use the admin bar tool with others it’s not so easy. Also, if they hit the back button the form seems to quit working and they don’t understand.

What I was hoping is to have it autocomplete (after 3 or more characters) using ajax so that there is no submit button. Would that be possible or do you maybe have another solution to my problem?

I’m in a similar position: with so many websites and users, I can’t always remember the username of an account.

Have you considered the option of a simple drop-down list of users, perhaps the first 10, below the search box, before the search is performed? The list could include the username and role, like so:

    username1 (Editor)
    username2 (Contributor)
    username3 (Author)

I don’t know what the User Switching plugin is typically used for by others, but I primarily want to check the Admin UI for different roles, rather than specific accounts.

If others use it for the same purpose, it would be useful if people could search by role (as well as by username, as is currently the case)? So if I search “Editor” or “editor”, then I get a list of accounts with the role of Editor.

    Just a thought!

    Thanks for the great plugin!

@chrslcy you might get a better response if you start your own thread, unless of course you wanted to offer the plugin author for a paid customization, which is subject of this support topic.

    Good point, thanks!

These are not changes that I would ideally want to make to the plugin. The plugin started out providing a dropdown list of users, however that doesn’t scale on large sites as the query happens on all pages where the admin bar is present. This was the reason to change this to an ajax solution.
