Hearing from you, we guess that there may be any CSS overridden issue. It occurs sometime if CSS styles(from ul/li) apply from the theme. If you inspect the pagination dots(ul/li) of the plugin, you may find out it.
If you could share the link for us, we could fix the issue.
There is no option in the plugin to make the dots smaller. But you can do so using CSS.
However, We think the pagination styles of the plugin are being overridden by your theme styles. So, if we give CSS code without inspecting the page, it may not work.
