I an running a mac laptop running OS 10.7.5. I have MySQL running on an Apache localhost server. I am adding new pages with content but they result in a 404 error when I click on the link on the local side.

    Thoughts anyone?

In the blog admin, go to Pages > All Pages
Hover the 'View' link for a page and note that URL
Now look at the blog itself and hover a link to the same page, note that URL.
    Are they different?

Are you able to see Posts on their own permalink?

The link for pages on the blog itself does not change to the URL that shows up in admim/pages/view

I am also not able to view the pages using their permalink.

I moved my live site to loacalhost on xampp.
Ive changed url and home link in table wp_options.
this is the correct url for coupon page BUT
the 404 error is shown, object not found.
Why the page is not shown.

fazzyA - check your xampp settings - do you need a port number in the url?

schmittyapolis - if you use a default WP theme (Twenty-*) does that change things? And what is the 404'd link? Are you able to use MAMP? I ask only because I use that and know the settings and there is a possibility something in your setup could be doing something odd.
