• I am having a very weird issue all of a sudden. My site worked perfectly. I changed a lot in the theme, I even had images instead of bars above the menu. However, recently all was messed up and I didn’t even update it to the new montezuma version or the new WP yet. All of the old CSS returned, like different font, different font color and the menu was suddenly somewhere else too. I don’t know why because no one, including me, logged in for months.

I fixed the CSS but… my icons don’t show anymore, I see the bars instead and my pages, most important, are blanco.
Could it be possible someone from outside tried to mess it up, like hackers can do?

And how can I get the pages back? I was stupid enough not to work on a child theme.

    This is the site: http://www.trendpersmixmedia.nl/
I already turned off and on the plugins, but that didnt helpt. A lot is messed up in the layout as well.

    Thanks upfront.

I tried another theme, that worked, going back to Montezuma: pages don’t show.

That sounds weird indeed. Are you saying all your pages don’t even show up in your wp-admin anymore?

You should really consider working in a child theme, though, so you can safely update your warez. The WP codex guide on creating a child theme is very easy to understand, and it doesn’t take a lot of work either.

Also, consider making regular backups of your database. Because that’s where your pages will definitely be. 🙂

They do show up in my admin, but they don’t show up on the internet. I will do the child theme, once I solved this, thank you.
I did a back up of my database, but for some reason that failed as well ;(

So I am trying to find a solution for the pages that don’t show online (all is intact as far as I can see at the back end).

I already found out that it was a hacker who messed it up.

Oh, yeah, I suppose if they do show up in your admin panel, your database backup won’t be of any help.
Are you sure all the pages are set to “published”?

But in the end, if your page has really been hacked, you should consider wiping that whole theme anyway. Make a child theme, and once you’re done, make a backup of your child theme, so that next time this happens, you can simply override your theme with your clean backup.

Yes all pages are on published, the whole site worked perfectly since april 25…

If there is no other solution I will probably have to install everything again. I cannot import the wordpress backup I made because it gives a fail: it says it can’t make folder uploads/2014/09 and asks if the folder above it is writeable.
Do you know what it means?

I have made child themes before, but not for this one because I made a complete back- up. But since that doesn’t work it is obvious I have to make a child theme. I will do that after all is fixed.

Yup, your folder has to be writeable if you want WordPress to do the work you’d otherwise have to do manually. It means you need to make your folder writeable. See this guide for more information:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions

Once your folder is writeable, WordPress will be able to import your database.
This is very important: When your old database is reinstated, you need to change your folder permissions back, and make them non-writeable, so you’re avoiding a security issue.

Problem solved, it was an issue on the server.
    Thanks for your support Emily.

No problem. I’m just happy there’s one less person with a headache in this world. 😉
