Support » Plugin: WP Super Cache » Pages cached to PHP files instead of HTML files?

  • Hi, I set up WP Super Cache on one of my sites “as usual”, expert mode, htaccess rules, disable for logged in, etc … and then found out that while browsing website (not logged in), the cache is saved to PHP files instead of HTML files I was expecting.

    For example:
    (…)/product/product-slug/meta-wp-cache-0e9fe8…3.php
    (…)/product/product-slug/wp-cache-0e9fe8…3.php

I did cache preload earlier, and I see (older) index.html and index.html.gz in many cache folders. But if I navigate to corresponding page, it is not quicky served from (HTML) cache, but slowly freshly generated… and then the above mentioned PHP files appear beside (not used) older HTML files.

Why is that? I don’t get it …
