• I am new to wordpress but have searched the forum and knowledgebase and lessons to find the answer—but no luck.

I have my .htaccess at 666. I am using the latest version of wordpress. I try to create an About This Site page in pages management. The page name appears in the sidebar. When I go to the page it reloads the first page, or at least, the new page created does not load. The content that I wrote in the create page section is not visible.

    Here are my settings;
    Main Page parent
    Default Template
post slug matches title of page
    page order 0

I have WYSIWYG editor turned off in admin profile.

What am I doing wrong. I bet it is simple, but for the life of me I cannot figure it out. Thanks in advance.

  • sounds like it might be ur .htacess file mondolizzie….

if you’re using permalinks, thats probably whats causing it.

to check this: turn ur permalinks off, and then try view the page. if you can see it, then its your permalinks..

for permalinks to work, ur htaccess file needs to have permissions set to 776

    🙂

    hope that works…

Twas the permalinks. I set the permissions to 776 and tried the permalinks again, but no go. The page won’t load, or rather, the conent won’t copy onto the page to see with permalinks set to anything but default.

Is there a fix for this?

I just uploaded a php.ini file to my blog as well, per the forums I was reading on my powweb server site. Anyone know anything about this topic?

I assume I should change the permissions back on the .htaccess. To what number should that be? 666 or 644.

    Thanks!

Nevermind. I think the server has to have some module installed for the permalinks to work. I am not going to worry about it.

And I read a doc about the permissions.

So all is well for now with me. Thank you for helping!
