• Hi everyone,

A recent bug is driving me crazy : I help a couple of friends with their WP photography sites. Even before upgrading to version 3.9.1, pages or articles started to disappear. When you click on the link, there’s either a 404 error, or just not change at all from the homepage. Yet, the page appears in the admin, I can edit it. But the preview/view buttons again lead to a 404 error or the homepage. All the pages didn’t disappear at the same time, but three of them already did on one site, two on the other.

I’ve tried de-activating a couple of plugins, like qTranslate that isn’t up to date for WP 3.9.1, but no change at all.

So, some datebase problem? But the websites are not related, same provider but different servers.
Anyone got a similar issue after upgrading to and after 3.8 ?(I think it started a few weeks after that upgrade).

I couldn’t find posts with that specific problem, so I don’t know where to turn. I can recreate the pages and content, but it’s just a useless fix if the articles keep disappearing.

    Thanks a lot in advance,
    -ju

  • Make sure your site Permalinks settings have been updated and saved properly.

Go to Settings > Permalinks > Common Settings(select one of them) > Save Changes > check your site.Repeat till you find the settings that work for you.

    Hi, thanks for your reply!

I’ve tried changing the permalinks, but it didn’t solve the issue. All the other pages and posts work well, except for those disappearing. It’s very odd, I really don’t understand why it’s happening on two unrelated websites, when everything used to work perfectly.

Check if those articles you are talking about are set to private.Even in that case, if you can edit those posts, you can view them too.But not everyone can view, only those with private content access can.If you visit those pages without logging in first, you get a 404 page.If you can provide example pages that would be better for anyone trying to help.

There’s another case where sometimes your browser cache or if you are using any WordPress caching plugin or CDN creates such problem.Try clearing the cache.
