page_title parameter in add_menu_page() – pointless?

  • I’m currently in the middle of writing a plugin which requires top level admin menus, and having researched the way to do this, I am a little confused about the parameter named “page_title” (first one in the add_menu_page() function). Seems to me it’s totally pointless since it never shows anywhere and doesn’t seem to be linked to anything?

    If anyone has any ideas of how to use this parameter usefully, please tell!

    Thanks,
    Michael

  • It appears in the <title> tag of the page when it is activated. I’m not so sure how to use it directly as even wp_title() does not produce anything.

    It shows up in top of the browser, it’s referring to browser or window title, not text on the actual page, but like aidilfbk said above, it’s referring to what goes inside the <title> tags which is reflected in the browser titlebar..

    Easy to miss unless you know to look for it… 😉
