Until now, I excluded pages from the sidebar listing and the header menu simultaneously by excluding the page number from the page widget. Now, however, suddenly this doesn’t work. Excluding from the page widget DOES exclude that page from the sidebar, but not the header menu.

To illustrate the problem, note that “About the Author” appears in the header menu (www.highlysensitivepower.com), but not in the sidebar. Other pages excluded previously from in the page widget do not appear in EITHER the sidebar or the widget.

The only recent change to the site I can think of that might have affected this is that I added the Angusman’s Permanent Redirect plugin, which appears to be working fine.

Your help with this is very much appreciated. Thank you.

  • I’m surprised that via a widget you were able to exclude pages in both a header and a sidebar 😉

Most authors use the template tag, wp_list_pages(), to display Pages so you will want to add the exclude= parameter to that usage. In the veryplaintxt theme look at the functions.php in the veryplaintxt_globalnav() for wp_list_pages.

Thank you, Michael. That solution made sense and I was almost done with it when I discovered Simon Wheatley’s Exclude Pages plugin, which also works (and is less nerve-wracking for my HTML newbie self).

    I really appreciate your help.
