Just upgraded my blog to 2.9 and almost all is well except that the Pages are using the default template and not the custom template. All else seems to work ok. I checked the templates and found out that there is a new file in 2.9 called page.php My old version only had _page.php. Tried renaming the old file page.php and uploaded but nothing changed.

Not sure what the template is calling for that it can’t find.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

  • There is no new file called page.php in 2.9. The default theme contains a page.php file and this may have been updated when you upgraded but that’s about it. If you had customised the default theme, didn’t save a copy of your customisations and then upgraded WordPress, I’m afraid you’ve lost your custom template.

    Hi, Esmi,

Thanks – I figured out that the page.php had to be renamed so now it calls the right template. That’s why there was a _page.php. Pnce I did that, the proper template displays.

I appreciate the help – Thanks again!
