  • The codex says this:
“”WordPress can be configured to use different Templates for different Pages. Toward the bottom of the Write->Write Page administration panel is a drop-down labeled “Page Template”. From there you can select which Template will be used when displaying this particular Page.””

I see no drop down menu here?????????????????????

  • Does your theme offer additional templates for setting up Pages? The dropdown appears if you have one or more “extra” template files with the current theme which have the following sort of section in it:

    Template Name: Links

Look at the default theme’s links.php and search.php for examples of this.

You need to create page templates.

I have two themes installed, the 2 defaults that come with word press I guess neither has any page themes to fill any drop down window or I could select the other I am running classic now should not the page theme for the new default theme show up or do I need to create page themes first before any page themes show up?

I guess the silence means yes?

All themes have at least a “Default Template” in the “Page Template” dropdown.

The dropdown should be immediately below the main textbox.
Are you using the default theme or the classic? The classic theme does not have and page templates. I think the default (Kubrick) has a couple (Archives =archives.php and Links = links.php as Kaf mentions) which should show up in the dropdown only if that is the active theme.

If there are no Page Templates defined (e.g. in an unmodified classic theme), the dropdown does not show.

Make a Page Template and see what happens…………………
