Using page templates vs index.php

    Hello,

    I want to display category’s on a different way (portfolio, news etc). Also I want display some text blocks on this pages. Is it right to use page_templates or should I use index.php (with widgets) to reach this.

    Could anyone give clear difference between using page templates with query posts or use index.php with widgets?
