• The titles of my custom page templates and the title of my theme are displaying oddly in both the Manage>Page>Page Template drop down and in the Design>Themes interface. I’m sure I’ve included the correct code for the the theme and template page titles, based on Codex instruction (i.e. “Snarfer” example). I’m editing the code via the ‘code view’ of Dreamweaver (maybe that’s putting unseen extra stuff in the code?) The best way to describe how they’re messed up is to show some screenshots.

  • Something (probably DW) is adding some crap to that code. Try to clear it in a plain text ediotr like Notepad.

Also, are you on a Mac? – Oh, yes, I can see, you are.
Not correctly set up editors add BOM to the beginning of your template files. (there were quite a few posts about this, earlier)

So, yes, it’s an unfortunate Mac/DW combo that is causing it.

Thanks moshu for your quick and uncommonly gentle reply. I changed some Dreamweaver preferences regarding line break formatting and it now everything’s fine.
    Dreamweaver>Preferences>Code Format>Line break type> LF (Unix).
    Thanks again!
