I rely on the page template attribute, on the “edit page/create page” administration options, to be able to customize my WordPress site. I just installed the latest version of WordPress and there is no option for selecting a page template. all I see under attributes is parent and order, no page template drop down.

    any advice?

    Thanks for reading!

changing themes, and then back again to my preferred theme did the trick. now I get the option drop-down. Not sure why this fixed it but it did.

I also had this problem. It stemmed from having an unclosed tag within the styles.css page. Further, I was having some uploading issues and the styles.css page was wiped clean in the process.

Note: Always work locally and upload! But also, when I checked the Theme, it showed some discrepancies so I knew it had to be with the styles.css page.

    Perfect!
    thank you!

I had the same issue happen. I don’t even know how it happened.

I just all of a sudden noticed that the template drop down was no longer available, and I couldn’t figure out why, or what happened.

Activating another theme, and then re-activating the custom theme, reset it, and now the template drop down field is available again.

    sweet!
