 * I have created a template page called ‘mainpage.php’ and selected this as the‘
Templates’ option when creating a new page for my site.
    However, when the new
page is viewed in the browser, it appears as the default theme page template
and not the template ‘mainpage.php’. Puzzled… can anyone advise?. Thanx

 * Where does WordPress use “mainpage.php”? That’s a new one for me.
 * Do you mean “page.php”? WordPress will use a file named “page.php” in your current
   theme to render pages.

 * I think what he means is that he set a template to a page but the page didn’t
use the template to render itself… it merely used the default page template.
