   recognise this link

 * the second link might be from your theme if you have downloaded it from an unreliable
   source, or from a plugin.

 * whilst I appreciate Emma having done the design etc etc it is a little underhanded
   to promote her website on the back of mine

 * I understand your feeling of underhandedness, but a single credit link is permissible
   according to repository [Theme Guidelines](https://make.wordpress.org/themes/handbook/guidelines/license-theme-name-credit-links-up-sell-themes/)
 * > Footer credit links are optional but if used themes are required to include
   > no more than one footer credit link.
 * It is also required that removal be permissible. If there is not a removal option
   in the theme settings, you could edit the template file, but do so as part of
   a child theme so the link does not return during a theme update.
