Page reverting to home instead of template applied to it.

I have a custom post type, ‘news’, that I want to display on the page i created called ‘Industry News’. I created and set an Industry News template to the Industry News Page. The slug for the page is industry-news.

I originally had the custom post type slug also set to ‘industry-news’ but heard that having the same slug could cause problems, so I changed it to just ‘news’ but the issue is still happening.

Now if I change the slug of the page to industry-news-2, it works (but shows regular posts instead of the custom post type, but that is a different issue).

Any idea how to fix it without having to change page slug? Here is a link to the site.
