Support » Fixing WordPress » Page preview shows wrong page when “homepage” and “posts” page is declared

  • I set up my website to have a static homepage with a posts page for blog posts. I set up a page for posts and styled it (I am using WPBakery Page Builder) similar to the rest of my website pages. I then added a section for the most recent posts to show up on that page. Then in settings -> reading, I made that page the posts page. When I go back to the page I just set as the posts page and preview it (from the wordpress editor), it opens a preview of the page that I declared as the static homepage, but an older version of it. Then when I click on the edit page icon, it opens up the latest version of the homepage. If I go directly to the posts page (by typing it into the browser search bar), it opens up the posts page and shows all the posts, but the page is not styled how I originally styled it. When I click on the edit page icon from there, it opens up that page for editing but it shows the page I styled in the first place: in other words, I can’t find a way to style the page that I declared as the posts page.

Did I set up the posts page wrong, or are there some settings hidden in a template/other area that I am not finding? Thank you.

  • what theme are you using?

generally, selecting a ‘posts page’ will use the templates home.php or index.php, not a page template…
