Page not created, Can't view page thru browser (4 posts)

When I create a page (Write -> Page, create, save and publish), I can see the page under Manage -> Page when I click on it.

When I try to view it thru my browser, it gives me a 404 Error.

I checked to see if a folder is being created for Page (/page/) on the server and it's not. Any idea what the problem is?

I'm finding I'm having a similar issue with 'Categories' -- a folder is not created for it.

EDIT: When I click on anything under 'Pages', 'Categories' or 'Archives', I get a 404 Error.

PHP works differently from HTML. pages/directories like 'page' will not be created. The URL is used to access info from the DB.

sounds like the blog address in options>general might be wrong.

I get a 404 error when I try to view my pages.

    My address is http://www.stagewerx.org/wordpress
    I get my home page

When I click on one of the pages I created and published i get
this address for the contact page
or this address for the support page

but I get a 404 error file not found

it's obvious there is no file in my wordpress files

but as you say it doesn't work like html, so how do I get these pages to show?

FYI - I'm new to word press but I had the same problem with displaying pages. It turns outs that I had changed the Permalinks Common setting to an invalid custom structure. I set it back to default and the pages displayed correctly. You'll find the Peralinks option under the "Settings" menu.
