Page Navi states that it supports up to WordPress version 3.7.1: http://wordpress.org/plugins/page-navi-slider/
Since the plugin relies on jQuery and there have been a lot of changes to WordPress’s implementation of jQuery since 3.7.1 – we’re now at 3.9.2, which 3.4 due soon – it wouldn’t surprise me if it was no longer compatible with WordPress. I would normally suggest you ask in the plugin’s support forum whether the plugin is being maintained, but it doesn’t look like there’s been much recent activity:

You may want to ask for an alternative plugin recommendation in the plugins forum, as I don’t have any to recommend first-hand.

Excellent – glad you got it working.
Also just a heads-up that if you did modify some of the Parament theme files, be sure you create a child theme, so your tweaks won’t be overwritten the next time you update the theme with the latest version. Here are some guides in case you haven’t made one before:
