When I try to recreate a new page using the same URL, WordPress automatically appends something like _contact- us-2_ instead. * I’ve spent a lot of time trying to track down the cause and ruled out hosting- related issues. I’ve done extensive research and tried multiple fixes, but I can’t seem to identify what originally went wrong. * At the moment, the old URL is redirected to a new page, which works, but it’s bothering me that I can’t reuse the original slug and I don’t understand why it’s still being reserved. * The only thing I can think of is that the slug was changed at some point while using RankMath. I suspect you will find the page under Pages in the trash. Have you looked there yet? You can restore it from there at any time. * If it’s not there, then the slug might be reserved for something else. This could be pages, posts, images, or other post types you use in the project. In that case, WordPress won’t let you reuse the slug as long as it’s still assigned somewhere. I’ve checked that thoroughly. I’ve tried everything I can think of and done quite a bit of digging, but I still can’t locate where the original slug is being held. * I believe the issue is related to a slug change somewhere that I can’t now find. This happened almost a year ago when I first started using Rank Math. If you find an attachment with that slug, edit it and change the permalink, which should fix the issue. * 2) Sometimes a post exists in the database but is not visible in the admin UI. If you are comfortable with database management, check for an auto-draft or orphan post in the database. Please check with your hosting provider for any assistance regarding this. * 3) Try deactivating RankMath and check if that helps to resolve the issue. * You can perform the above suggestions on a staging website without disturbing the live traffic.
