    Hi team,

I updated to the latest Pods release 3.0.10 a few days ago and since then, I am experiencing extremely slow page loads and the mobile responsive layout on the Home page for example, is broken. I Temporarily disabled Pods and the mobile view on the home page was ok. re-activation breaks the page.

As you will see, I am using pods to present Spotify feeds within custom containers and while I acknowledge that the website has never been all that fast because of this, it has never done this before.

So I am weighing up between Pods being the issue or Spotify, though Spotify hasn’t been an issue before and they are just simple feeds?

Any ideas what could be happening?

    Thanks

What version of Pods were you using before?

Can you review your settings under the Performance tab on Pods Admin > Settings?

    Hey Scott,

Strange things happening. I adjusted my container settings, which had always worked fine before and now the layout is working. Very odd, but that issue is now resolved. However, I am still experiencing incredibly slow page load speeds. Which setting should I be aware of or concerned about in the Pods Admin > Settings?

    Thanks

Sorry, I think I was using the previous version of Pods as I always try to keep it up to date.

    Not sure if this helps;

    Core

Allow Pods to create and manage custom fields on any content type created/extended through Pods

    • Enable creating custom fields with Pods – ENABLED
    • Disable creating custom fields with Pods (for when using Pods only for content types)

    Performance

Watch changed fields for use in hooks

    • Enable watching changed fields (may reduce performance with large processes) ENABLED
    • Disable watching changed fields

    Watch WP Metadata calls

    • Enable watching WP Metadata calls (may reduce performance with large processes) ENABLED
    • Disable watching WP Metadata calls

    Override WP Metadata values

    • Enable overriding WP Metadata values (may conflict with certain plugins and decrease performance with large processes) ENABLED
    • Disable overriding WP Metadata values

Show Pods fields in Media Library modals

    • Enable showing Pods fields in Media Library modals (may decrease performance with large numbers of items on admin screens with media grids) ENABLED
    • Disable showing Pods fields in Media Library modals and only show them when in the full edit screen for an attachment

SessionsSecure anonymous public form submissions using PHP sessions (potential performance impacts)

    • Auto-detect sessions (enable on first anonymous submission)
    • Enable sessions (may decrease performance)
    • Disable sessions – DISABLED

    Stats Tracking

Would you like to opt-out of tracking?

    • Track usage on my site – ENABLED
    • DO NOT track usage on my site

Try disabling all of the performance specific options you’ve listed there and let me know if that improves everything.

    Hey Scott,

OK, so tried Disabling all of them and the Pods stopped working all together on the Music Pages, such as /label/exceed/ and so on.

So I enabled ‘Enable creating custom fields with Pods’ and they came back again. However, still incredibly slow to load. Obviously, when the Pods are disabled, the pages load very fast.

I believe the Spotify Streams are part of the issue, but are the Pods also having issue populating the Spotify blocks?

    Thanks

If you’d like to join our Live Community Pods Slack at https://support.pods.io/chat/ — I’m sure we can help you debug this more quickly and get to the bottom of the issue. Once you join, just look for me and send me a Direct Message and I can work with you to figure this out.

Is that something you’re open to?
