Will you go to users, your profile, pick another color scheme and make sure disable visual editor is not checked.
Did you unzip the files then ftp them to the server or did you unzip on the server?
kmessinger, I just stated above that I’m having the same issue. Troubleshooting is often a collaborative process amongst many people having the same problem. Starting new threads for every person having the same issue does not help resolve the issue. If my post was off-topic, that would be a good reason for a new thread.
dennis2, I just resolved my issue be enabling the json extension in my php.ini file. If you have access to your ini file, look for “;extension=json.so”, remove the semicolon in front, and then try loading the page in WordPress again.

Other users are having the same problem as you. The buttons in the TinyMCE editor don’t show up. The text in the editor box is white on white. Unable to switch to HTML view or Visual view. Can’t activate the screen options link.

You did not have the same issue. Pls read http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome so you know what you are supposed to do when on this forum.

These are not the same problems and can be solved in a multitude of ways.
In the future, please make your own topic (it will be easier for us to help YOU that way). http://wordpress.org/support/topic/troubleshooting-wordpress-32-master-list?replies=7
look for “;extension=json.so”
Not in my php.ini file at all. Added it for fun, still no dice.
kmessinger,
The screen shot shows you in visual mode with html buttons.
[Edit] It also shows permalink wrong – it shouldn’t be there unless you have saved the draft or published and when there it should not be just “http:”
I’ve had to remove the links and site names in the image, I’m sure you understand. They display normally.
Did you unzip the files then ftp them to the server or did you unzip on the server?
Files were unzipped on my computer, then FTP to my server.

I tried this and got something a bit odd. When I went to my profile preferences and changed the theme, it didn’t do anything different then it has been, but when I checked “Disable the visual editor when writing” it changed the text color to black, and removed my visual and HTML buttons. This is temporarily better but doesn’t solve the problem otherwise.
WordPress 2.3.1 is out, fixed my problem.
Wonderful! Pls mark resolved.
