    Hello,

Two weeks ago, I had 1and1 help me transfer a wordpress website I had created from a technical sub-domain to a regular domain, one that had an old website. My goal was to take the new website I designed in wordpress and swap it out with the old site. Through a few long hours, I worked with 1and1 to accomplish this. At first, there were a ton of layout problems, but they eventually went away. As soon as I got off the phone with 1and1, I noticed the remaining problems.

My Main Problem: When I try to edit any of the 10 pages my website has in the wordpress dashboard, all of the text shows up in white lettering (you have to highlight it to see what’s really there) and even though I am viewing the text under “Visual” editing, it’s all in HTML code. Additionally, I have lost the toolbar that went across the top of the page editing box that allowed me to bold, center, etc. 1and1 swears they didn’t cause this problem, and that a file could be corrupted somewhere.

This is my first wordpress website; I love wordpress. However, I am not skilled enough to be able to read through script and find the error – whatever is causing this.

Also, a plug-in I am using called cformsII, developed some severe layout problems on the editing page of the plug-in. Whether this is related or not, I don’t know.

Thank you in advance for any help.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Esmi,

I just went through deactivating and activating each plug-in and as soon as I deactivated cformsII, the text boxes started working again!! I was even able to reactivate cformsII and the editing page of the plug-in now magically works! I am going to test it out for a few more minutes, but I think you solved my problem. Thank you so much! I will update this thread as soon as I am done testing the site.

Just for kicks (and assuming that you’re using the latest version of cformsII), try deactivating all plugins. Yes – all of them. Then reactivate cformsII first and see what happens. It’s a good, well-supported plugin and I’d be really surprised if it was the sole cause of your problems.

I deactivated all plug-ins and then only reactivated cformsII and everything still worked. I have tested everything with all the plug-ins on and it seems that a simple deactivate / reactivate took care of all my problems (for now).

    Thank you so much esmi!

Weird! But I’m glad we were able to prove that cformsII really wasn’t to blame. 🙂
