Hi, Rogstamp,
In order to make image appear in header, in the Post/Page Edit screen you should set it as Featured image.
Now the important part. It is set in inc/custom-header.php that standard header width is 960px. When you select image to be assigned as Featured, WP will check its width. If width is > 960px, it will appear in header, if it’s not – will not appear.
Later I will try to explain it in readme.txt.

The only requirement is that image should be wide – at least 960px. You can do it 🙂
In the future I will try to create a tutorial on how to use header functionality.
