 * What are you trying to accomplish? Maybe another plugin such as [http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/page2cat/](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/page2cat/)
   can do the job.

 * Thought that might work myself. Page2cat has a shortcode [catlist=xx] that is
   supposed to pull a list of pages and posts in the category once pages are set-
   up, but it doesn’t work for me unfortunately.
 * I’ve also tried stacking WP_Query functions, but am struggling with this as it’s
   a bit beyond my ability with PHP currently.
 * I’m trying to display a WP_Query ‘cat=$id’ call that display both pages and posts,
   rather than only posts.
 * Any ideas? 🙂

 * I don’t see any reference that page2cat has a shortcode. Look at [query_posts()](http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/query_posts),
   and the `post_type=page`, or `post_type=post` to list pages and posts.

 * Frankly, I recommend considering the use of the [Category Show](http://felipetonello.com/blog/wordpress-plugins/category-show/)
   plugin which even allows sorting the resulting list. If you also want a list 
   of posts from a given category in your sidebar (or wherever else a widget goes),
   try the [Category Posts Widget](http://jameslao.com/2009/12/30/category-posts-widget-3-0/).
   Both work fine with WP 2.9.1.

 * You don’t say exactly what you are doing but have you tried ‘Category Page Extender’?
   I use it with Category Page (page2cat) very successfully.
