Support » Plugin: Page Builder by SiteOrigin » Page Builder – one of the greatest additions to WP

Page Builder and the assistance you get from this team is quite impressive. Page Builder along with its plugins is the bases of operating WP content with media. There are other great pagebuilders for WordPress however Page Builder from Siteorigin, seems to me more efficient in terms of the handling of blocks and columns. Also Page Builder has a number of third party addons :).

  • I’m guessing the slowness problem is because page builder actually runs the queries to have a html version of the content.

Do you notice Page Builder slowing down your site or just the page editing workflow?

Just on the page saves do I get page loads problems when larger quantity of articles are on a page. I also did a search and found the same problem published at: http://wpskyway.com/pagebuilder/

I have gotten page time outs it was so slow, so I too reverted back to an earlier version. The version just before the current one seems as though it was doing 2 db queries, one at page save, another towards the end of the save process.

I’m guessing the slowness problem is because page builder actually runs the queries to have a html version of the content.” Has this not been always the case?

I’m not sure, I’m new to Page Builder. But I’ve used other page builders and they don’t have the same interface integration as Site Origin’s, I don’t recall seeing html in the backend like this does. My guess – and I’m no developer – is SOPB make an immediate query on page save, not only when the frontend page is loaded.

Your advice is to downgrade to 1.3.x.?

I do not see the advantage of a HTML query unless it is to populate the text editor (which is probably not the case) for better SEO results – as what SOPB dose.

I would downgrade to 1.3x for sure. I usually archive earlier versions for reasons just like this.

The 1.4.x branch did introduce a lot of changes that were very important moving forward. They give widgets a lot more flexibility in the forms they can display.

There were some major performance issues in 1.4 to 1.4.2 with large pages, but I was able to sort most of them out and get things running a lot quicker in 1.4.3. Were you getting performance issues when using 1.4.3? Would you be willing to help me figure out why?

Hopefully we can sort out the speed issues. I’d like to keep Page Builder moving forward while keeping it as quick as possible. Ideally we’ll get it running faster and faster with each update 🙂

Shall we move or continue this over to the support forum?
