When I run a search/replace script on this site to move to using https, Page Builder breaks in the back end. The pages display OK in the front end (apart from a slider disappearing) but won’t load in the Page Builder drag & drop interface – if I try, rather than just switcing across, it asks me if I want to import the current content into Page Builder 🙁 I restored a backup, just pre the search/replace process, and everything is back to normal. Anyone any ideas what might need either fixing manually, or excluding from the search/replace? Thanks!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

BTW, I checked for JSON escaped substitutions too (there weren’t any), so it wasn’t that! OTOH I just discovered that my database restore is corrupt, so re-doing that now… (sigh)

    Hi @wwwolf

    Thanks for reaching out.

I’ll ask the team if they know of any reasons why this would be happening.

As a workaround, you could quickly solve the problem of switching to https using: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-force-ssl/.

    Hi wwwolf,

Unfortunately, it sounds like the search and replace plugin you used doesn’t support serialized data. To clarify, what plugin did you use?

If it doesn’t, or you’re not too sure if it does, I would re-run the search and replace plugin and replace the replaced data with the original data (basically, undo the search and replace). I would then run a plugin that supports serialized data. I highly recommend Velvet Blues Update URLs. Regreatablly, this doesn’t always work (it really depends on how the first plugin edited the data) but it’s honestly your best chance at fixing the broken data.

Thanks for responding so quickly 🙂
I was using the Search and Replace script from interconnect/it, which as far as I can tell is generally reckoned (used with care) to be more robust for serialized data than any of the plugin solutions. Weird.
Meantime, the site is back to its former state, running happily (front end and back) under http, and will now have to stay that way until I have a chance to get back to it. I’ll hopefully have another go next week, and get back to you if I’m still having these issues.
