Since some kind of update, literally no pages that have pagination, and thus the %page% code in the Metas and Titles are being ignored, in multiple websites and themes.

I’ve tested this with all but essential plugins deactivated, and the result is the same – with caching off too.

    What’s happened – is there a fix?

Use WP Rollback to restore your yoast to the previous version and it will be fine.

Something they changed in it, caused ALL paginated pages to not show the Page x of x across the board. On Blog, Projects, Categories, you name it.

20.3 is working fine. Stick to that until a working version is announced.

    `Hello @simon_a6

I’m sorry about the delay in getting a response from us. I recommend updating to Yoast SEO v20.5 to see if the issue persists. Also, ensure you are running the latest version of WordPress and other plugins.

Furthermore, %%page%% will be replaced with the current page number with context (i.e. page 2 of 4) while %%pagenumber%% will be replaced with the current page number. These snippet variables are expected to not work on the homepage or the first page in the paginated series. You can learn more at https://yoast.com/help/list-available-snippet-variables-yoast-seo/
