    Hello,

I’ve installed the Trackserver plugin and the owntrack android app.
Created a separated page with the trackserver [tsmap] code.

Installed the Owntrack android app and did the following:
    – Checkt “reporting” to on;
    – Under Preferences => connection => Mode, checkt private HTTP;
    – Under …. “Host” filled the URL which was stated in the plugin.
    – Under …. “Identification” switched authentication off and filled the username, device ID and tracker ID.

When accessing the page it says no tracks to view (translated from dutch).

I tingled with a few options but im at a loss.
Maybe it has something to do with the following, but dont now how to correct it.
    * My site is only accessable thrue https (which I filled correctly onder “host”).
    * Or is the probblem occuring from the “Private HTTP” option? Dont now which to select.
    * To acces my site you need to have a username and password.

Is it possible to help me get the right settings right? Do you need more information?

    Martijn

Just to clarify,i want to build a family gps tracker.
Just to keep track of oneanother

    Something like Life360.
Or if someone nows of an alternative (a way to embed life360 or other trackers) im open for suggestions.

Before trying anything at all with the [tsmap] shortcode, you should assess that tracks are being created in Trackserver through the ‘Manage tracks’ page. If nothing shows up there, there’s no use trying to display anything on a map.

That said, in my testing, Owntracks wasn’t very reliable sending updates over HTTP. It should however produce at least /some/ results.

You wrote: “– Under …. “Identification” switched authentication off”

Shouldn’t that be “on” instead of “off”?

You also wrote: “* To acces my site you need to have a username and password.”

    What exactly does that mean?

    Cheers,
    Martijn.

    Hello Martijn,
    Thanks for the fast replie.

You also wrote: “* To acces my site you need to have a username and password.”
The website is only reachable over https (forced by a plugin). And I also use a plugin to force visitors to login before seeing content.

There are no tracks created in the “Manage tracks” page.
I just reinstalled the app on my android phone and left the identification to “On”. But still no tracks.

In the app settings for “host” used the url provided by the plugin under Owntracks. Under identification (now turned on) I use my username and password from the website.

If all failes, do you now which android app should work best over http(s) with the Trackserver plugin?

    Thanks
    Martijn

If you open the Trackserver-Owntracks URL (the server URL that you configured in OwnTracks) in a browser, what do you see?

You should get a HTTP Basic auth login prompt where you can log in with your WP username and password. After succesful authentication, you should receive a JSON object.

Trackserver works best with TrackMe and Oruxmaps, but neither of those apps are suitable to keep running all the time to use as a family tracker.

I used OwnTracks during a skiing trip with a group of friends, but the results were less than satisfying.

If I open the link and fill in the username and password it gives:
    -user credentials
An error like the webpage isnt fount
    -admin credentials
    Nothing but a blank page.

Thanks for the advise. For me the family tracker was the goal so for now i wil look for something else like emebedding a webpage or somthing (if thats even possible :-))
Thought Owntracks was the way to do it but I can see now that i was wrong.

Thanks for your replies. The pluging works great but my needs are just different 🙂
So i will close this topic.
