• This plugin is good but there are some UX issues. First of all, the WePay plugin stopped working and after many (many, many) hours of trying to figure it out – support says they no longer support it. However their website still showed WePay and made no mention of any issues. Wish I could get all that wasted time/money back.
Also – for recurring donations add-on – we have NO IDEA if a donation is recurring or not in the email notifications. We asked support – they do not seem to care. When a donation comes through – we are forced to login to the website and even then it’s not immediately clear.
So it’s these little User Experience bugs that are getting in the way of this being truly great.

Hi @worldlightmedia — sorry to hear you are less than impressed. We were frustrated ourselves with WePay’s closure of their public API and without any real notification to developers like us. It was an unfortunate situation that we were put in and we did our best to accommodate user like you as best we could.

I’m Head of Support, and I reviewed your previous priority ticket about the Recurring notification — that was over a year ago. Since then, we actually created a functionality plugin (https://github.com/WordImpress/Give-Snippet-Library/blob/master/add-on-snippets/recurring-donations/give-is-recurring-email-tag.php) that would address that for you now and we’re working on a new Recurring Donations point release which will address that issue more comprehensively.

I think if you update your addons, and reach out to our support about any of your concerns today, you might be more satisfied than you were a year ago.

In the meantime, is there anything else I can help you with at all? Your success with your online donations is our first priority and me and my team are available to you.

Actually, point of clarification, we do already have a recurring email tag that can be used with your Admin notification emails now out of the box. {subscription_frequency} outputs either “one time” or the frequency of the subscription. So, like I mentioned, update your Addons and there’s quite a bit there that I think you’d be very satisfied with, and the parts you struggle with we’re happy to help clarify or overcome in Support.

That’s good to know! Thank you. That does change my review now that that is fixed. 🙂
The other issue is with stripe recurring donations. The instructions on the screenshots don’t match the UI at Stripe. It’s not working – and I can’t be totally sure if I’m doing it right because the screenshots here:
https://givewp.com/documentation/add-ons/recurring-donations/supported-payment-gateways/stripe/ are different Stripe’s actual interface.

Here’s the error message I get using stripe and recurring donations: Error: Received unknown parameters: name, statement_descriptor

Hi @worldlightmedia — thank so much for updating your rating, that’s much appreciated, and I’m glad for the opportunity to continue to support you and your cause.

Stripe’s latest API has some breaking changes when it comes to recurring donations. We are getting that updated in our Recurring Donations addon to be released within the next couple weeks. For now, if you reach out to Stripe support and ask them to roll back your API to this version (2018-01-23) then you’ll be fine for now.

Generally speaking, the moderators of the wordpress.org support forum discourage questions and support related to paid addons that are sold and supported offsite. Going forward, it would be best to reach out to our Priority Support for all questions related to paid add-ons.

    Thanks so much!

Also, I’ve updated that documentation article with the latest Stripe Dashboard UI for more clarity. Thanks for the heads up on that.
