No offense to the dev, but I think this plugin is an overrated POS. I do QA. That’s my profession. This plugin sucks and is full of bug. It’s NOT accurate at all. I think people think it si because of the positive reviews, but it’s basically weak as hell. If I qa’d this plugin, the dev would throw darts at a pic of me. Seriously, they’d f-ing hate me. Anyways, lame ass stats plugin. It has a really nice interface and layout, and all that jazz, but coming at it from a dev/logic perspective, me gut tells me it blows. But, free and pretty, which is why I sad no DR to the dev. But for real guys, if this is you claim to fame, whatever, do better. Much better. Your design is solid. Your math and coding blows.

Profile with no history on WordPress.org, open specifically to post a review on our plugin? This review is as fishy as the person who wrote it 😉

Anyway, our (small) team is more then open to criticism and negative feedback, it helps us and our software grow. Too bad that you don’t mention any specific issue that could be addressed in our “terrible code”.

With almost 600 5-star reviews, 800k downloads, 25k active users and a very active community around WP SlimStat, we believe we’ve done a decent job so far at sharing our programming knowledge to deliver a FREE software that recently has even been pirated as Keyword Swarm. Oh, maybe you’re the guy behind that scam organization? If they pirated it, and are selling it at $90 a pop, it mustn’t be that bad after all…

WP SlimStat supports add-ons, uses minified javascript (that doesn’t rely on jquery or other third party libraries), uses optimized CSS and includes some state-of-the-art third party tools to provide a valuable service to universities, businesses and bloggers all around the world.

Anyway, constructive criticism requires that you let us know what could be improved in the code to make it better. If you are just venting without pointing out any concrete issues, your QA business blows, not ours!

    Kind regards.

That’s an interesting way to start.

I do QA. That’s my profession. This plugin sucks and is full of bug. It’s NOT accurate at all.

So… in your professional opinion what does this plugin lack? I’m not defending this plugin or the author but as reviews go there isn’t any substance to what you are posting.

You’re making statements about this plugin but how will anyone reading your review see anything but an unhappy plugin user? There’s just not any information in your review except that you don’t like this plugin and/or the code.

Try giving these links a read.

If you wish to review your review (that’s a sentence right? *drinks more coffee*) then you can do so via this link.

The review system here is to inform others of what you like, what you don’t like and what you think can be improved in the plugin or theme that you’re reviewing. That way you can help other potential users.

Thank you, Jan. I was wondering if you could delete this thread, if the original poster doesn’t reply in a few days. I’m pretty sure this guy is related to those who are selling a re-branded version of WP SlimStat under a different name (Keyword Swarm).

His intent is clearly to “scare people away” so that they go buy what he claims to be his original work. Timing seems to be right, too: they opened their website a couple of days ago, and I sent a message to the wp-hackers mailing list yesterday to let people know that there’s no need to buy something that is already available for free 😉

    Thank you again.

I’m attempting to become a “Kinder, More Gentler and Understanding” moderator. This is usually dependent upon the amount of coffee I’ve just had. 😉

You and I have both replied so let’s see how the original poster responds. Reviews (and posts, topics, etc.) can always be zapped but just leaving a bad review isn’t really being abusive. Granted this is close but it really doesn’t quite cross the line.

Haha 🙂 Kinder mods, this is what the world really needs!

I totally agree with you, I am not suggesting any kind of censorship. Our users know how much we value constructive criticism and feedback, just take a quick peek at the support forum. We are really passionate about what we do, and in the end that is all that matters. Shady guys who want to make a quick buck by stealing our code and then claiming it is a POS (point of sale? Hmm maybe we should jump into the bitcoin business hehe) won’t be able to compete with us 😉

The fact alone that you intervened, is enough for me and my team. We really appreciate it, Jan.

    Take care,
    Camu

As I thought, this review is as fake as the guy who posted it and who is selling my plugin under a different name 😉 But I must admit that sock puppets are so cute, sometimes!

This “review” has nothing to do here.

I really don’t want to make this “review” thread any longer (I hope it gets closed), but BOY isn’t that Keyword Swarm thingy a terrible joke or what? I feel bad for all those who might fall for the hoax and pay for a free product.

Keep up your great work, camu!

Man, all of this rebuttal and speculation… I’m just a cranky bastard who is impossible to please, as my user name implies. Regardless, I have run this plugin on several sites, and it’s data is inaccurate; inconsistent at best. Sorry.

I have to point this out, however: EVERY TIME I write a negative review about ANYTHING on ANY forum — plugin, theme, app, etc… I am always flagged as a “competitor” or someone who is trying to “resell” the product.

It’s incredible how deluded and/or paranoid people are.

honestguywhohateseverything – I don’t know what your game is, you sounded sane in your first critic…I was expecting a specific reply identifying the problems one can clearly come across while using slimstats, how over rated it is and what it lacks…the exaggeration part…ure just a lonely kid with nothing better to do than criticize anything successful to get all the attention….and these gentlemen here are actually bearing your bad ethics, etiquettes and all norms just to help and improvise their product….guys just forget this guy…he’s the one who lost his train…and now he just wants to be mr. judge…..honestguy…what really is your qualification? do you even know what you’re talking about kid? come on…isn’t it past bedtime already? give us something solid, anything…uve said ‘EVERY TIME I write a negative review about ANYTHING on ANY forum ‘….well EXPLAIN yourself kiddo…these experts along with us readers are waiting for your highness to tell us what this plugin lacks…how your great self came across the short comings and suggest us anyways of improvising it…..kiddo when you criticize something…u have to tell whats wrong with…just because u don’t like oysters or drinking milk doesn’t mean its bad for the world….stop making a fun outa urself…grow up!

@soccerrise, thank you for putting into writing exactly what my thoughts are right now 🙂 I guess this guy is even crankier now that we’ve succeeded in putting his fishy business offline 😉

camu no problem, I actually felt pity for the bloke…it was sad actually….an obvious wannabe posing as a geek haha….problem is that the internet has evolved so much …that any minute fakeness is easily recognized and then penalized by the readers…this was one big obvious big foot posing as a honey bee…no wonder common sense is rare these days!

I must be getting old… How has the OP helped make the product better, again? “lame ass stats plugin” doesn’t exactly show the way, or does it?

OK. So let me first stipulate that I’m a very experienced WP user and admin. Most would consider me “an expert,” though I know there is much I don’t know, and I’m no programmer. This is an unsolicited response to the grotesquely unfair, inappropriate and inaccurate slams against a truly excellent piece of software.

    That being said…

Of all the free stat plugins I’ve tried (and I think I’ve tried them all), SlimStat is the best. Period. Bar none.

If there is a better out there, I want to see it.

IMHO, SlimStat is better than most of the paid stat plugins/services, and I’ve tried a ton of those. Most of ’em are grotesquely overpriced, particularly when you see what SlimStat delivers for nothing. Nada. No cost.

I use SlimStat on over a dozen sites now. My team and I love it. Not only does it work, it does it’s job without conflicting with other plugins! That may seem like “so what – it’s supposed to do that” kinda statement, until you realize how flaky plugins can be – and how often even expensive paid plugins do not “work and play well with others.” I deal with plugin problems regularly. But I can say categorically that SlimStat has not been one of the problem children. Not even once!

IMHO, WordPress ought to scrap the stat app in Jetpack (which I think is really weak) and recommend SlimStats instead!

It’s true that one man’s great stats app may be another’s POC. Each app calculates “views” and “visits” and whatnot by different criteria (as does Google Webmaster Tools and Analytics and all the rest), and the way a particular app does it may not be to a every person’s liking. I mean, I’ve spent days trying to reconcile what Automattic’s own app (WP Stats, in Jetpack), Google and my server – all at wild variance to each other, because of differing methods of quantifying the same data – were telling me. Can you relate?

But in terms of instant quality data, usable metrics, keyword and search info, and everything else you need, I know of no other free stats plugin that even comes close!

SlimStat does it all, and does it very well. Again, there are a few very nice paid plugins/services that do the same job – but you’ll pay out the nose for them. This very capable plugin also uses far less clock cycles than I would expect. I’ve got a few plugins here and there – that I need for specific purposes – that don’t do half as much as SlimStat and use two, three, even five times as much processor power. Gah!

As far as I’m concerned – to the moment – there is nothing else out there I’d rather use than SlimStat. I don’t know how the developer continues to provide such a frankly amazing plugin for no cost (I really don’t), but I commend him/her/them. It’s a truly excellent piece of problem-free software.

    SlimStat flat out rocks.

    My two cents.

    Out!

Maybe the authors are feeling a little bummed lately, running out of steam, and wondering how someone is conning users out of $90/knock off…

If true, I think maybe the authors posted a ‘fishy’ (per camu) review so we could all come out of the woodwork and let them know how good SS is!

Well… Mission Accomplished! The actual users of the sw think it’s great. You guys rock. Period.

    pat
    🙂
