We are using FeedWordPress to pull in excerpts from the various places my client writes on the interwebs. Recently the blog stopped working. It wouldn’t load on the homepage or the dedicated /blog page. It also wouldn’t load in the dashboard… it would just timeout.
When I looked in the database the XXX_postmeta table was extremely bloated. It had over 2 million entries. Entries with meta_key = ‘syndication_item_hash’ were most of these. After running “DELETE * FROM XXX_postmeta WHERE meta_key LIKE ‘syndication_item_hash'” it dropped to 987 and the blog started working again.
Any idea why it would be doing this? Thanks for your help! Want to make sure it doesn’t happen again…
