 * I had my site taken offline by a DDoS attack last February. I since installed
   WordFence for security, but last night the site was taken offline again because
   of a server overload. There were a handful of IP addresses that hit the site
   a few thousands times.
 * What is Wordfence supposed to do to protect a website or what is the purpose
   of it? Why did it not do anything to prevent the server overload?
 * Thank you,
 * Pat

 * Hi Pat,
 * First, I’m sorry to hear you were down for a time. How are your firewall settings
   configured? That would determine how Wordfence throttles traffic from IP addresses
   that break a rule.

 * Hi Brian. There are a lot of settings in there. Is there a way I can get you
   a screen shot of my settings instead of telling you what each one is? I don’t
   see an attachment feature in the forum. Or is there one or two I should look
   at in particular?
 * Thanks,
 * Pat

 * Thanks!
 * When taking the screen shots and looking at the setting I realize some of them
   should probably be changed. Not sure which ones? Do you have a tutorial video?

 * Hi Pat,
 * Thanks! Take a look at this document on Firewall settings:
 * [http://docs.wordfence.com/en/Wordfence_options#Firewall_Rules](http://docs.wordfence.com/en/Wordfence_options#Firewall_Rules)
 * You’ll want to adjust your settings from Unlimited, which is essentially having
   the Firewall off, to the recommendations in the document. The suggested settings
   are just a starting point so you may have to tweak the settings.
 * Hope that helps,
    Brian

 * Very Helpful, Brian! You guys are very good with your support, even to free people
   like me. When I get my site to a point of self-sustainability financially I will
   look to get the paid version.
 * Pat
