    Hello,

first thank you for the great theme. I really love it!

My issue is i like to have headlines on the first page. But i like to have the overlay effect also. When I activate the headlines with the theme options that the images become dark and there is no overlay effect anymore.

Is there any way to display the headlines and still got the overlay effect?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi @peacefulwarri0r,

    Glad you like it!

There’s a setting in the Customizer for always displaying the post titles on top of the posts on archive pages, if that is what you mean. You can find that setting at Administration panel > Appearance > Customize > Theme Options.

    Hi,

yes, I activated this option. With the result that the images became dark and there’s no overlay effect anymore. I would like to keep the overlay effect and got the Headlines.

    Hi @peacefulwarri0r,

I’m not sure I understand the effect you’re looking for. Do you want the titles in the post previews to always be displayed on top of the images, but without the dark overlay?

I second this request, an option to turn on headlines in normal state, although perhaps the white font will be not very clear.

Yes indeed, I would like to have the titles in the post previews, without the dark overlay and still with the hover effect. But I couldn’t figure out how to do this.

It’s impossible out of the box. But would be very nice, the users can see the headlines prompt and the images aren’t dark.

As @redbol pointed out, the reason for why such as option doesn’t exist is that the white titles would be unreadable against some background image without a semitransparent overlay to add contrast.

You can remove the dark overlay on your own WordPress installation by following these instructions:

    1. Log in to the administrations panel, and go to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS. If you don’t have the Additional CSS tab in the Customizer, you need to update to the most recent version of WordPress.
    2. Add the following CSS to the text area: .post-overlay { background: transparent !important; }
    3. Click the Publish button.

Thanks for looking into it Anders. The solution you provide is however not what I was looking for, I would like to always see the the titles, and when you hover over it darkens and the title is clearly visible.
But don’t sweat it, its the holiday season. Thanks for a great theme.
