Not sure if this is the right category to post my query. Well, here it goes.
I recently got a job to migrate a clients WordPress installation from domain X to domain Y. The initial and main problem was that my client was unable to provide their username and password (their son setup the installation).
I was able to uncover the username by looking into the database – of course the password was encrypted.
I have since been able to obtain the password from their son. However he also proceeded to tell me that in WordPress I can over ride the password – the string is in config file.
Huh??? I am completely in the wrong here or is this total rubbish?
Considering the password resides encrypted in the database how on earth is it possible to over ride any password via the config file???
Anyway, I would appreciate any feedback with regards to this situation.
