Outputting a filtered category menu to different pages (portfolio types) (2 posts)

    Hi James,

The new tutorial on displaying a category menu is just what i needed, awesome!

I'm going to push my luck and ask for just one more line of code... How can I display only specific categories inside the category menu, and output it to specific pages - pages with different 'project types'?

Like I successfully did for my Canvas portfolios, I got inspired and followed the tutorial on creating multiple instances of the “Portfolio” page template (http://support.woothemes.com/hc/en-us/articles/203106697-Creating-multiple-instances-of-the-Portfolio-page-template) ... and so, I've tried to tweak the the_widget() along with if ( is_page( 'portfolio B' )... without much luck.

    Regards/Hugo

As this is just using the widget I'm afraid it's not possible without touching a core file. Sorry about that.

If you wrap the the_widget() instance in the projects_categories_menu function from that tutorial in an is_page() query it should work. Just make sure you're passing the correct argument to is_page(). Also note that if you're trying to check on individual project category pages you'll need to use is_tax().
