Output buffering breaks blog page

I see this error when trying to access the blog page using WP 4.4.2
Fatal error: ob_end_flush() [ref.outcontrol]: Cannot use output buffering in output buffering display handlers in /***/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3464
turning off the plug-in causes the error to go away and vise versa.
