Support » Plugin: Kadence WooCommerce Email Designer » Outlook not displaying template correctly

Hello. I use Outlook as my email client and it’s having issue with displaying my email templates correctly. All fonts, colors, border sizes, and whatnot are not transferred over. In Woo settings, I’ve got it set to HTML as well.

FYI. Emails are displayed correctly just using the default Woocommerce email templates.

Any ideas on what’s going on? Thanks!

Outlook is one of the worst email clients for processing html, they don’t support many css options. It’s possible your design is just heavy in areas where Outlook doesn’t support. Can you send me a screenshot of what you are seeing?

    Thanks Ben for the reply!

lol Well, I’m not going to change if that’s what you’re implying. I’ve been using it for 20 years. It does format many of the emails I get just fine…except from this plug-in.

Here is a screenshot. I’m not really customizing it any more than what one of your templates already exhibit.

I’m unable to send a screenshot as I dont know where to upload it? But all in all, it’s supposed to resemble your first template listed in your plug-in in color and font. Mine has no color and uses basic default typeface (although my logo is still there).

Hope you can help. I hope I don’t have to ditch it. I really like the plugin! Many thanks again!

    Hey,
No, I’m not saying to move from outlook, I’m just saying the options you have for what css works within outlook is limited and it’s possible that is the issue.

All the template styles included in the plugin have been tested with outlook (all it’s main versions) and work fine.

You can upload images using a sharing image site like: https://imgbb.com/

Mine has no color and uses basic default typeface (although my logo is still there).

That could mean your SMTP is striping the email or that you have something breaking in how the css is compiled, for example woocommerce uses a PHP extension: Emogrifier that if your server doesn’t have running could cause issues.

Or you could have a plugin causing an error when the email sends which could break how the email is created.

Good starting place is to check your error logs in woocommerce > status > logs

I tested in gmail’s client and it displays fine. I also tested with yahoo…just fine with desktop and mobile. FYI

But you say it works fine with Outlook…tested, tried, and true. Hmm…

“Plug in conflict” is a good catch all. Who knows what’s up.

I’ll play around with it. Maybe I’ll just give up. Thanks!

I’m not trying to turn you away or ignore your support request with “Plug in conflict”. I am trying to help.

A screenshot of what you are seeing would truly go a long way in allowing me to understand the whole issue. Perhaps I should not have made any guesses until you sent one.

I know you’re trying to help. It is much appreciated. I was just saying…

I had mentioned above that I have no idea where to attach a screenshot. That’s why I haven’t sent one. My Lightshot appears to not be working right now for some reason.

I’ve decided to just run with it. It’s fine with all other clients, and I really like your plug-in’s UI. Bravo! Just baffles me why it doesn’t work with my Outlook when you say that it’s been tested in that environment. Oh well…

Question on the side…on customer Processing and Completed order emails, by default, is the “Order number: xxxx” within the Order Details box supposed to be a clickable link? My New Order email features this but I don’t recall if the customer emails had that as a clickable link or not.

    Hope that made sense!

    Thanks again Ben.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear, I posted above about how to add a screen shot:

You can upload images using a sharing image site like: https://imgbb.com/

Customers don’t have a link with the order number just admin emails

Oh my bad! You were perfectly clear. I was perfectly blind.

For what it’s worth, here you go: https://ibb.co/v3ZmKWR

Thanks for clarifying about the link.

    Hey,
Can you clarify want version of outlook you are using, also can you send a screen shot of how it should look?

    Outlook version: Office Pro 2016

Screenshot of how it should look in Outlook http://prntscr.com/pndi0g (screenshot from gmail)

    Thank you Ben!

That is strange but I have a guess in your container settings what have you set the CONTENT WIDTH to?

    Ben

    (@talonhead)

    800

Plugin Author Ben Ritner – Kadence WP

    (@britner)

change that to 600 and test.

    talonhead

    (@talonhead)

Well…this is odd. I have no clue on what’s going on now. It now works *almost*. lol

I’ve tested with 800 and 600 for grins. Both output the same in Outlook. Desktop. Strange!! It didn’t before at 600 and 800…like yesterday??

Only the header background (logo area) is not there. It is on the footer…just not the header.

    See: http://prntscr.com/pnsy02

It’s progress isn’t it? Are we getting closer?

I can not being to explain how buggy outlook is when you are trying to code emails for it 🙂

I think I see why outlook may not work with the top background. Background-color is listed as “buggy” for Outlook 2007–16
    https://www.campaignmonitor.com/css/color-background/background-color/

I’ve been trying to work out a way to make it show more consistently and I think I might have some progress. I’ll update the plugin soon after more testing.

    Ben
