Outbound Link Tracking (2 posts)

I've been using AIOSEO for yearsand have been tracking outbound links in Analytics, it seems that since December no outbound links have been tracked on any of the sites I run AIOSEO on?

Has something changed? I can see the JS is being injected as it is supposed to but the links aren't tracked under events anymore?

You can check out http://www.mojowill.com as an example.

    Hi mojowill,

I'd be happy to help you troubleshoot this, how good are you with debugging Javascript? This can be a tricky thing to debug; we'd want to verify that Google Analytics is working properly on your site and can track events, and then see if the recordOutboundLink() function is working on your site, or if it's being called in the first place. I don't see any Javascript console errors that would prevent any of this from working. It looks like you're using classic async ga.js tracking; even then there are a number of different ways to track things. See if you can use the sample code they have there for Event Tracking to track an event by clicking on a link, and then see if you can do the same using recordOutboundLink() instead. Let me know if you need more assistance with this.
