    1. When setting the initial regular price and inventory instock flag as a simple product. Then saving the draft.
    2. Switching to a variable product deletes the price and sets the out of stock flag in the process of switching to a variable product
    Case two
    1. starting with a variable product, the drop to the inventory screen does not allow for bulk setting of the instock flag and the regular price when the price is the same for all variations.
    2. I understand about the settings at the variation level. But it would improve the ease of the process to allow for setting basics just like at the simple product level.
    3. I have 5 variation products showing up for my main product but can’t get to them using the add variation at the variation level. The counter will of course keep incrementing for each variation added.

Is there any way to attach the orphaned variations to the parent product without making more of the same variation product.

    Hi flyfisher842,

    Case 1:
    > 1. When setting the initial regular price and inventory instock flag as a simple product. Then saving the draft.
    > 2. Switching to a variable product deletes the price and sets the out of stock flag in the process of switching to a variable product

This is expected, because the price and inventory will now be set on each variation.

    Case 2:
    > 1. starting with a variable product, the drop to the inventory screen does not allow for bulk setting of the instock flag and the regular price when the price is the same for all variations.

You can tick Manage Stock > and enter Stock Quantity – however, this is a total amount of quantity, not the number then given to each variation. For example, if you enter 200 here, that’s 200 total items across all variations.

    > 2. I understand about the settings at the variation level. But it would improve the ease of the process to allow for setting basics just like at the simple product level.

You may find it easier to create products on a CSV first and import them. Here’s a bit more about how to do that: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/product-csv-importer-exporter/

    > 3. I have 5 variation products showing up for my main product but can’t get to them using the add variation at the variation level. The counter will of course keep incrementing for each variation added.

I’m not sure I understand the issue you’re describing. You also mention orphaned variations – again, I’m not totally sure I understand. Could you explain a bit more, perhaps with some screenshots?

    Cheers!
