Support » Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com » Out of memory (allocated 12582912) (tried to allocate 4294967268 bytes)

    I moved to WordPress4.7 and PHP7.1.0 on the same day. After that, I had PHP Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated xxxxxxx) (tried to allocate 4294967268 bytes) in \wp-content\plugins\jetpack\json-endpoints.php on line 123.

    Only json-endpoints.php gives this error, so I can use ini_set('memory_limit', '4096M');.
    But the problem is I don’t have such size memory areas because of my WordPress on Windows7 x86. Besides, I think 4096M is so big.

    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Has there been any progress on this particular error? It seems to be happening a lot lately, even on the latest Jetpack version. I have my site set up to email me PHP errors, and these messages are starting to get annoying. (-:

    @eatonz Do you use PHP 7.1 and OPCache on your site? If so, could you try the patch here and let me know if it helps?

    Thanks!

    I do, and I will apply that now and let you know if I see it again.

    Sorry, the patch did not help at all.

    @eatonz Could you try to deactivate all modules on your site, one at a time, and let me know if the problem appears to be linked to a specific module?

    @eatonz
    Today, I updated PHP to 7.1.4 which includes the fixes of https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=74213. I already have Jetpack4.8.2 which merged #6565. Under them, I don’t have the error anymore.

    @jeherve
    Thanks for the hard work of Jetpack team.

    @o6asan I’m not seeing a PHP 7.1.4 release yet, but thank you for the update. I will make sure to install that as soon as it’s available and report back.

    Happy to report that this issue is completely resolved by upgrading to PHP 7.1.4! Haven’t had a single occurrence since I installed the update.

    Well, at least 99% resolved.. First occurrences since the update:

    @eatonz Others are still experiencing issues, unfortunately, and we’re still looking into it and brought this up with the core PHP dev team as well.

    I’ll let you know when I have good news!

    I have again, too.

    > I’ll let you know when I have good news!

    I’ll expect that, too.

    @jeherve I have consistently been getting the error logged at 3:15 AM EST every morning, if it helps.

    This should now be fully fixed as per yesterday’s release. Don’t hesitate to post again here if you continue to experience issues!

    @jeherve I haven’t had the error since I updated to Version 5.3 at 0:40 on Sep.7 UTC. So I agree with you. I appreciate your hard work.

    By the way, what did cause this issue exactly? I would like to hear it for my knowledge.

    No issues for me either after the update. Also curious what caused it.
